2008 Hula Bowl Coaches

Mike Sanford

Mike Sanford - Head Coach, UNLV

Third-year UNLV head football coach Mike Sanford has agreed to coach in the 2008 Hula Bowl, the game’s President Nick Logan announced on Wednesday.

Sanford will be joining Mike Riley from Oregon State University as they lead the Kai (west) squad against the Aina (east). The Aina squads have enjoyed a five-year winning streak in the historic game.

Ron Zook

Ron Zook - Head Coach, University of Illinois.

University of Illinois head football coach Ron Zook will coach in the 2008 Hula Bowl, the game's President Nick Logan announced on Wednesday.

Zook is in his third season at the helm of the Illinois football program. After two two-win seasons, Zook has led the Fighting Illini to a 6-3 record (5-2 in the Big Ten) through their first nine games. He also has Illinois bowl eligible for the first time since 2001. Zook, in his sixth year as a head coach, has produced four bowl eligible squads (three at Florida, one at Illinois).

Mike Riley

Mike Riley - Head Coach, Oregon State

In the six years that Mike Riley has led the Oregon State University football program, he has guided the Beavers to some of their most exciting campaigns. In the process he has changed the overall philosophy of the football program and gained national respect for it and the university.

During his first two seasons in 1997 and ’98, Riley laid the foundation for a program that has since competed in the Fiesta Bowl, O’ahu Bowl, Insight Bowl (twice), Las Vegas and Sun Bowls.

Jeff Jagodzinski

Jeff Jagodzinski - Head Coach, Boston College

Jeff Jagodzinski returns to Boston College as its 33rd head football coach in 2007, his 15th collegiate season and 23rd overall in coaching.

Named to his position Dec. 19, 2006, the 43-year-old Jagodzinski spent last season as the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. He had spent the three previous seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after five years with the Packers (1999-2003) as tight ends coach.
